Dr. Oz-Approved Detox Food Plan To Lose Weight

Dr. Oz and Dr. Alejandro Junger Detox Plan

Detox diets are often criticized for being extreme and unhealthy, but Dr. Alejandro Junger (Author of Clean Gut Guide) has developed a new detox system that will help you lose ten pounds in one month, without starving yourself. The Clean Detox system consists of eliminating unnatural foods from your diet and replacing them with ten foods that will help your body lose weight, even without exercise. Digestive issues, like bloating, will go away after only a few days, and you will experience long-term weight loss.

Dr. Junger was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and developed the detox system to help deal with his symptoms without the use of medication. His detox corrects issues with intestinal health by helping the digestive system work at maximum capacity. The human body generates and retains fats in order to defend itself; detoxing helps the body flush the fats out, while working less to digest foods.

Before starting the detox, eliminate the following foods from your diet: dairy/eggs, soy, soda, gluten, coffee, processed sugar, beef and pork, peanuts, creamed vegetables, and alcohol. These foods are all unnatural, and they encourage bad bacteria to live in your gut, rather than the good bacteria. Bad bacteria encourages the formation of mucus and causes acidity in the body. To avoid side effects, ease yourself into your detox and avoid exercise for the first few days. Gradually start exercising a few days into the diet.

The 10 Detox Foods

1.) Green Leafy Vegetables and Cruciferous Vegetables

These vegetables have a large amount of chlorophyll, which feeds the good bacteria in your gut.

2.) Cold Water Fish

These fish have the least amount of toxins and have good fats (like omega-3′s). They also contain good proteins that support the liver’s natural detox functions.

3.) Free-Range, Pastured Chicken

Has the same properties as the fish, and is also free of hormones and antibiotics.

4.) Fresh Berries

These are a great way to reduce cravings and they also contain a lot of fiber.

5.) Apple Cider Vinegar

This vinegar promotes the secretion of hydrochloric acid, which is very good for digestion and the absorption of nutrients.

6.) Lemon Water

Although lemons are an acidic fruit, they actually cause an alkaline effect in the body. They are also anti-microbial.

7.) Herbal Teas

These teas boost energy and have similar properties to caffeine, but without the negative effects.

8.) Unsweetened Coconut Milk

This is a great substitute for dairy and contains good fats and oils, with a great flavor.

9.) Coconut Oil

This oil contains smaller and shorter fats, which are healthier for humans. Using coconut oil will make your hair and nails grow stronger and healthier, as well as make your skin glow and your eyes brighter.

10.) Plant-based Protein Powder

For people who do not eat meat, it is important to still have protein for the liver to work effectively during detox. This type of protein powder does not contain harmful chemicals.

A Detox Menu

On this diet, it is important to eat only until your body tells you to stop. Once you eliminate the harmful foods from your diet, your cravings should decrease and leave you with less appetite. Dr. Oz has provided a 3-Day Energy Boosting Cleanse, and a 30-Day meal plan for the Clean Detox that includes over 100 recipes. Here is a quick example of some of these meals:

[Breakfast] Smoothie: 1-2 cups spinach, 1 cup frozen berries, 1 Tbsp. coconut oil, 2 cups coconut milk, 2 Tbsp. plant-based protein powder.

[Lunch] Fish Tacos: 2 x 8 oz. halibut fillets, 4 large leaves of dark green lettuce, 2 tsp. coconut oil, 1/2 cup shredded cabbage, a wedge of lemon.

[Snack] Fresh berries, 1 Tbsp. plant-based protein powder, and 2 cups coconut milk.

[Dinner] Faux Shepherd’s Pie: 8 oz. poached chicken, 2 Tbsp. coconut oil, 1 small bok choy, 2 cups broccoli florets, and 10 cups of cauliflower florets (as the mashed potato substitute).

Your Results

This diet should help you lose around ten pounds within a month’s time. Expect to have tighter, glowing skin, and renewed energy. The first few days of the diet may feel difficult, but the diet gets easier. Some people on the diet commented that they actually enjoyed it after they had adjusted to the change in the foods they were allowed to eat. Eating these ten detox foods helps a person learn how their body works, and changes their understanding of a healthy diet.
