Dr. Oz Presents the Total Choice Diet Meal Plan
Dr. Oz has launched a total choice meal plan that is meant for everyone who wants to lose weight. You will be able to fully customize meals specifically for weight loss. The plan has been specifically made to be hassle-free. There are more than 100 meal options, each of them having the proper calorie count. You don’t have to think about anything in order to lose weight, all you have to do is to pick the meals that speaks to your cravings. For making this program possible, Dr. Oz has joined forces with a popular Cleveland Clinic. After months of work, the most user friendly weight loss plan has been developed.
What makes the plan amazing is that you won’t be following any diet. Instead, you can choose to eat the foods that you love. Dr. Oz wants to make us understand the difference between a 1200 calories day and one of 1600. There are two things that can affect your health and your weight: the types of foods that you eat and the quantity of food that you eat daily. When you don’t get enough calories, you begin to starve, but when you get too many, you store them as fats. At least this is what Kristin Kirkpatrick (Manager of Wellness Nutrition Services, Cleveland Clinic) has to say in the show. Counting calories is not the most important thing, because calories can be relative to the foods we eat. For example, you cannot have 1200 calories of chips, but you can have the same number of calories for real food.
According to Michael Roizen, another professional from the clinic invited in the show, you can lose from 1 pound to 1.5 pounds every week with the plan. You need to decide if you need 1200 or 1600 calories a day. Here’s How:

The first factor is age, 1200 is for people of 36 years old and older, who are under five feet and five inches tall. 1600 is for the ones who are under the age of 35 or at 35 and who have a height of over five feet and five inches. Also, 1200 is for people who are not active or slightly active, while 1600 is for very active individuals. (You can determine your activity level using a Pedometer).
The Breakfasts for the 1200 Calories Category
This is how a typical day with the plan will be: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and desert. There are many options for breakfast, such as a cheesy egg sandwich, a chocolate peanut butter banana smoothie, turkey bacon oats, spinach egg wraps (something portable for work), etc. Karie is a woman invited in the show who has lost about ten pounds, with two and a half pounds within the first three days. She says it wasn’t hard, even if she’s from Texas where people eat big.
When her son saw the foods, he said this is not diet food and it looks good. Karie says the plan is great because she didn’t feel like starving while applying it. Unlike diets that involve drinking a lot of shakes, this plan allows you to eat your foods without being deprived of anything.
Dr. Oz: How Comfort Foods Can be Part of the Plan
Beyond breakfast, you need a things like a portable lunch, or at least one that is easy to make and delicious. For lunch, you can have toaster oven grilled cheese with tomatoes. This can be done in five minutes. Another solution is a grilled chicken pitas pocket sandwich. Another good meal for lunch is a chia black bean soup. The soup offers omega 3 fatty acids and is not like the one with broth that you may know from diets. This meal is really fulfilling.
There are other comfort foods that can be really healthy, such as a turkey vegetable pizza. Everyone in the world loves pizza, so this healthy pizza would satisfy the comfort that you need after coming home from work. A second option can be macaroni with cheese and broccoli. A third option can be chicken parmesan. When the family will have lunch, you will not have to eat diet foods, but the delicious food that everyone else is eating.
One of the tricks in all these meals is the use of non-starchy vegetables. If you don’t know what to buy, there is a full list of healthy ingredients on the site of Dr. Oz. Kristin uses balsamic vinegar containing different flavors to make non-starchy vegetables better. The best thing about vegetables and vinegar is that they don’t add any calories to your meal.
Snacks and Deserts
